Principles of Design

Rhythm is like repetition, in design rhythm makes everything flow and consistent, it attracts attention and makes the composition relaxed.

Pattern in design is also close to rhythm it makes a consistent flow throughout the composition through line, colour shape or texture.

Unity in a composition creates harmony and brings the work together.

Balance in a composition is made from the components in the artwork like lines colours shapes etc. and can also make the composition symmetrical.

Emphasis, the
 part of a composition or artwork which stands out to draw attention to the viewer.

Contrast in a composition is elements that are opposite like dark colours and light colours or large shapes and small shapes.

Movement in a composition is an object that is clearly moving but captured as a still shot.
