Is research an important part of graphic design?

Yes researching for a graphic design project is one of the most important steps. When starting a project you the first thing you must do after the brief is research. When researching you must see what styles are in fashion, particularly for your target market, what colours other designers have used, the layout of the design etc. and also to get inspiration and ideas for your own work. 

What platforms are the most useful when it comes to Graphic Design research?

Obviously the best platform to use for graphic design research would be the internet. Most designers would have the internet readily available and is probably the first and easiest choice for research.  Other platforms you can use for research is books and journals on graphic design, magazines and also everyday life as we are surrounded by advertisements, logos and all types of graphic design.

What Visual Imagery do you see during everyday life and how does this influence you as a Graphic Designer?

Every day we see lots of visual imagery, a lot of it being graphic design like advertisements web pages, posters etc.  Things that influence me as a designer are pretty much anything that I like the look of, or gets my attention. Being a visual person I notice a lot of posters or images and like to think how they would have made them and how much time or lack of it that it would have taken to create. So I probably notice things some people don't.
